John 15:1–17

Pruning is an act that requires knowledge of the plant, a vision for the future, and an understanding of what it takes to get there. From the outside, a gardener at work can look more like someone attacking a plant than a strategist with an intimate knowledge of their subject. It is most often the case that a tree, or a bush, or any wild thing cannot become all that it could be without the the careful, loving, pruning that shapes it into what it will someday be.

In John 15, Jesus describes himself as the vine on which his followers depend, and find their life in, and he describes the Father as the careful gardener who works out a plan for getting us to be what we were made to be all along.

There will be hard cuts made along the way if we are to become what God has intended us to be, sometimes it may feel more like we are being hacked away than careful tended to. When the work of the Father is accomplished in us, and we are sustained and nurtured by our connection to Jesus, the fruit that is produced can’t help but glorify God.

Join us this Sunday as we talk through abiding in Jesus, the pruning we experience, and the fruit that God creates.

See you Sunday!

Service times are at 9:00 & 11:00. If you can’t make it in person, you can watch live at those times.
