Philippians 2:5-11
The situation in Philippi was remarkable. A decade before, the Apostle Paul had planted a church that was now flourishing. Despite living in a hostile environment, the church was still doing well. They were spreading the Good News and making a difference in their part of the world. Paul was immensely grateful for all that God was doing in and through them!
In fact, as far as we know, there was only one little problem. We don’t know the specific issues, but apparently, there was friction or dissension in the ranks that was threatening their fellowship. For that reason, Paul pleads with them to “Do nothing from selfishness or empty conceit but with humility of mind let each of you regard one another as more important than yourself.”
To illustrate what he means, Paul pulls out all the stops by reminding his friends of Jesus’ example. In the process, he throws us head-first into the deep end of theology concerning the nature of Jesus, and the mystery of the Trinity.
See you on Sunday.
Service times are at 9:00 & 11:00. If you can’t make it in person, you can watch live at those times.
