Philippians 1:12–26
Last week Johnny walked us through the opening verses of Paul’s letter to the Philippians. Identifying himself as a “bond servant of Jesus Christ,” Paul started off with words of gratitude and appreciation for his good friends experiencing persecution in a Roman outpost that did not take kindly to Christians.
He also let them know that they are at the top of his prayer list as he earnestly prays for their spiritual growth and progress in the faith. But after that, as we are apt to do in a letter to someone we have not seen for awhile, he begins to tell them about what is going on in his life. I’m thrilled to hear the good news about what God is doing in you and through you, but here is what is going on with me.
Now, they already know his situation. They know he is in prison waiting to go on trial in Rome. They know he may not come out of this alive. What they don’t know is what he is thinking and how he feels about it. That’s what we are going to look at this week.
See you on Sunday.
