Psalm 51

My favorite proverb right now is Proverbs 27:17 “As iron sharpens iron, so one man sharpens another.” We don’t get the beauty of Psalm 51 without Proverbs 27:17. Nathan the prophet was called by God to confront King David on his walk with God. David had sinned, and was hiding it from everyone. God led Nathan to call David out, and David responded appropriately.

Living in community means being willing to be confronted at times…and at times call out your brother or sister. And when we get to that place, what does repentance and confession to the Lord look like? It looks like King David’s response in Psalm 51. An acknowledgement, a broken spirit, and a heart seeking a restored relationship.

This is a family service, so we won’t be getting into the details of the sin, but we for sure will look at what confession, repentance, and restoration looks like this side of the cross.
