Sunday, February 10: Moses
Exodus 5–11
Last week, Gary shared a quote from A.W. Tozer: “What we think about when we think about God is the most important thing about us.” There is truth to this. Your thoughts about God affect much of your life and behavior. If you think God is judgmental, you’re going to feel guilty. If you think God is hateful, you might become hateful, too. If you think God is uncaring, you might start to get angry. There are as many thoughts about God as there are people, and not all of our thoughts about God are true.
These thoughts are important. They are impactful.
Last week, we saw Moses introduced (or rather re-introduced) to God at the burning bush. God sent Moses back to Egypt to confront Pharaoh and liberate Israel. Moses had all kinds of objections—what if Pharaoh won’t listen? What if the people don’t accept me? What if I stumble over my words? Moses didn’t know much about God, and his thoughts were clouding his judgment. If he was going to lead Israel, he needed to get to know their God.
Well, in chapters 5-11, Moses gets to know God. He gets a front-row seat to God’s power, majesty, love, and grace.
After chapter 11, Moses is a different man.
Join us this week as we look at the ten plagues, what they taught Moses about God, and what they teach us about God.
See you Sunday!
