Kingdom Practice Through Ministry

Let me make a bold statement:
“20% of Christians are doing 80% of the work of ministry in the Kingdom of God.”

Do you believe this? I bet you do if you are among the 20%. Why does the Church fall into the same old 80/20 rule? Some of our individual reasons may be; lack of direction, motivation, knowledge, priorities, distractions, timing, or __________ ( fill in the blank).

We began a new series last week called “Kingdom Ethics.” The focus is on practical ways for Christians to conduct themselves in the world. This week our topic is putting the Kingdom of God into practice in our lives, or Kingdom Work. Another way of saying this is “bearing fruit” in the Kingdom of God. This may seem scary, because it may sound like this is about tell me to add more things into my already too busy schedule. Even in reading this, I may be already trying to figure out how I can exclude myself from this. But here is where we need to be careful.

What Jesus said about those who bear fruit and those who do not should be even more concerning than simply ignoring His commands. Jesus draws a line in the soil and asks which side of the line are you on, His side or not? Are you going to follow your King or not? You see, following Jesus, our Lord, will cost you everything. But we knew this when we accepted Him as our Savior, right?

There is hope! God has equipped each of His people with “the manifestation of the Spirit for the common good.” God has provided, and we are to use, what He has given us. This should be some of the best news we have ever heard regarding our purpose and role in our earthly life.

Please join us this Sunday as we explore how God has included us in His Kingdom, what we are to do now that we are in His Kingdom, and the great news of how we can rely on God to make His purpose happen in our lives.
