Sunday, August 1: Kingdom Ethics
Image
This week we will be continuing our Kingdom Ethics series. Last week, Jeremiah reminded us that we are created in the image of God. This week, we are going to look at one of the implications of this truth—because we are created in the image of God, we have inherent dignity and worth.
Our lives have value.
The Scriptures teach us that the image of God in us has been tragically marred by sin. All around us, the world urges us to reject our birthright and continue down the path of sin. The Scriptures teach us that this way ends in death.
But Jesus has called us to life. He says, “The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy. I came that they may have life and have it abundantly.” (John 10:10 ESV)
Jesus has rescued us from sin and death and set us on the pathway to life that is truly life.
As followers of Jesus, we are stewards of a pro-life culture. In other words, we put on a life-giving lifestyle of the Spirit and we put to death the death-dealing lifestyle of the flesh.
Join us this week as we look at Colossians 3 and what it means to be truly alive.
Service times are at 9:30 & 11:00. If you can’t make it in person, you can watch live at those times. We no longer have an 8:00 online service.
