Sunday, June 6: Free
Galatians 5:16–26
The notion of no responsibilities, no chores to be done, and no work to do sounds especially appealing on a warm afternoon with the sun shining just right. But as you probably know, a kick-back with a glass of lemonade in the shade sort of afternoon is only possible when the other responsibilities are finished. Whether you’ve got a “honey-do” list, a remodel, a repaint, a garden to dig, or you’re managing a household of tiny wild humans, it’s an exercise in futility to think you can kick back when there’s work to do.
But what about after the work is done?
When you are finally “free” what are you free to be doing? With the acknowledgment that sometimes resting in the shade is the best way to glorify God who gave us the gift of rest, Paul suggests in Galatians 5 that we are free from the work of the law, and we have been freed to walk with the Spirit.
Join us this week as we explore what it means to be free to walk with the Spirit, and how that’s not just mental gymnastics to get us a new honey-do (christian-do?) list.
See you Sunday!
Service times are at 9:30 & 11:00. If you can’t make it in person, you can watch live at those times. We no longer have an 8:00 online service.
