Doctrine – The Church & Ordinances

Sunday, July 3: Doctrine

The Church & Ordinances

If what we believe informs the way that we act, then there is no subject more outwardly lived than the doctrine of the church. The consequences of what we believe about the church is played out every day of our Christian lives.

The book of Acts tells of people coming to Christ through the apostles’ teaching. After becoming Christians “they were continually devoting themselves to the apostles’ teaching and to fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer” (Acts 2:42). The consequence of their new life was enthusiastically coming together with other Christians to worship.

Each Christian is a member of the body of Christ. “For just as we have many members in one body and all the members do not have the same function, so we, who are many, are one body of Christ, and individually members one of another” (Rom. 12:4-5). Each person in the body of Christ has been given a gift by the Holy Spirit. And “since we have gifts that differ according to the grace given to us, each of us is to exercise them accordingly” (Rom. 12:6).

Our mandate as the church is to proclaim the gospel message to the world. How do we actually do that? We start by regularly promoting and teaching sound doctrine, building up of the body of Christ, and equipping the saint for the work of service. (Eph. 4:11-12). By regularly getting together, the local church provides a way for each of its members to use their spiritual gifts to reach the community and the world.

Please join us this Sunday as we discuss the doctrine of the church and how we at Believers Fellowship put that into practice.
Service times are at 9:30 & 11:00. If you can’t make it in person, you can watch live at those times.
