Christianity is not rocket science. We believe in the name of Jesus Christ and we love one another. It’s that simple.
But sometimes we make it harder than that. We come up with all kinds of rules (written and unwritten) for what it means to know God. Sometimes this can be harmless. But other times, we can get so caught up in the extra stuff that we forget the important stuff.
That’s when we get problems.
This week we are going to continue our sermon series called Abide. In 1 John 2:1–6, John brings us back to the basics: the cross and loving people. Christianity is not as complex as we try to make it. But when we get real about the essence of Christianity—what it’s really about—it’s actually pretty awesome.
