Sunday, January 5: Son of God
Mark 1:1–20
Happy New Year!
New year; new sermon series. This Sunday we are diving into the Gospel of Mark in a series called Son of God.
Mark is a story about Jesus. It has all the elements of a good story: setting, characters, plotline, and themes; and the central conflict of the narrative is: Who is Jesus? Now, Mark doesn’t leave us in suspense. He tells us from the start: “The beginning of the gospel of Jesus Christ, the Son of God.” (Mark 1:1 ESV)
But the characters in the story don’t know this, and as we read, we get to see Jesus’ identity unfold before their eyes. Some think He is a teacher. Others think He is a prophet. Still others think that He is a king. The truth is that He is all those things and more—He’s the Son of God.
Join us this week as we begin the story of Jesus. It’s going to be a great series!
See you on Sunday!
