Sunday, January 8: Signs
John 7:40–53
Following Jesus’ explosive announcement in John 7:37 and 38 that he is the source of life that the people are celebrating, an announcement which was made at the height of the festival and in the middle of the temple itself, there is some division about who he is.
The religious leaders see him as an agitator at best, and a blasphemer worthy of death at the worst, and they continue in their efforts to have him arrested.
The people struggle to understand whether he’s a criminal, a prophet, the promised messiah, or something else altogether.
While some snap to their judgements, at least one, Nicodemus, suggests that we hear this Jesus out.
As we consider the witness of Jesus in scripture and wrestle with our own understanding of him, it’s worth considering Nicodemus’ question together, “Shouldn’t we hear him out, and know what he does before we judge?”
Join us this Sunday as we consider the witness of Jesus together.
See you Sunday!
Service times are at 9:30 & 11:00. If you can’t make it in person, you can watch live at those times.
