Kingdom Ethics – Beauty

Sunday, August 29: Kingdom Ethics

Beauty

In my four messages in Kingdom Ethics, I have been making a case for cultural engagement. What should the church’s response be to the changing culture around us?

In my first message, we saw that God is reconciling all things to himself and has made us ambassadors of reconciliation. In week two, we saw that there are death-dealing cultures and life-giving cultures and that we are committed to building a life-giving culture. Last time, we saw that parents are stewarded with the responsibility of setting our kids on the path to life.

In my final message, we are going to look at how we promote the life-giving culture of the gospel. In 2 Corinthians 4, Paul turns the typical assumptions of persuasion on their head. Responding to critics who questioned his qualifications (since he wasn’t a very strong speaker), Paul argues that his weakness is an asset because it is in our weakness that the power of God is made manifest.

There is an important theological lesson for us in these verses—God’s power is made manifest in our weakness.

Join us this week as we talk about the power of God and how He makes beauty from ashes. See you then!
Service times are at 9:30 & 11:00. If you can’t make it in person, you can watch live at those times.
