John 15 Abiding in Christ

I love meeting new people at church. I love to hear their stories—where they came from, how they found God, what is happening in their lives now. When you first meet someone, there is a lot to say and a lot to talk about. But, as you grow in relationship with someone, you find that you don’t need to spend as much time talking to connect with them. Sometimes, just dwelling with someone is enough—the connection is stronger than words.

The same is true of our relationship with God. When we first come to faith, there is a lot to learn and a lot to talk about. But as we grow in our faith, we learn to appreciate time just sitting with God—abiding in his word and in his love. Often, the most intimate prayers don’t involve us saying anything. We can just sit and still ourselves and listen.

Our church is emphasizing discipleship this year, so we have decided to spend a few weeks at the end of our Glory series to talk about John’s teaching on following Jesus. John emphasizes abiding in Christ, loving like Jesus, and trusting in God, so we are going to spend the next three weeks learning how to do these things!

This week, we will return to John 15 to see what it means to abide in Christ. I am going to give you three practical disciplines to help you grow in your relationship with Jesus. There is great joy in abiding in Christ, and I am looking forward to talking about how we can grow in this.

I am excited for Sunday! See you then!

Service times are at 9:00 & 11:00. If you can’t make it in person, you can watch live at those times.
