Sunday, June 26: Doctrine
Introduction and Trinity
What we believe informs the way that we act, and that means we should pay close attention to what it is that we believe. The consequences of believing that you have a beautiful singing voice, if that is in fact not the case, are pretty low, and honestly as long as you’re making a joyful noise you’re probably doing just fine.
However, the consequences of believing that you might just be able to out-wrestle the lion in the zoo enclosure could be a problem. If you truly believe that, there is a distinct possibility that you will end up on the news.
When we don’t examine what we believe, we may end up in places we did not intend to go, and it’s for that reason that we have doctrine. Doctrine is a way of saying formalized teachings, and whether we get it from commercials, college, or the Bible, we all have doctrine that we live by. Is monogamy right or wrong? How did you come to that conclusion? Whatever your response, you are working off of doctrine.
As you can imagine, the source of your doctrine quickly becomes very important. This week we’re beginning a sermon series on Doctrine, where we will examine how scripture has informed our understanding of who God is, and who we are.
What we believe informs the way that we live our lives, and we’re going to make sure that we are rooted in the word of God as we explore our church’s doctrine.
See you Sunday!
Service times are at 9:30 & 11:00. If you can’t make it in person, you can watch live at those times.
