Sunday, June 17: Baptism
Happy Father’s Day! I don’t know if you have any Father’s Day traditions, but we do at church! On Father’s Day, we like to celebrate new life in Christ with baptisms.
This week we are going to baptize a number of people who want to make their faith in Jesus known. This is an extra special event for our congregation, as it marks not only an important step in faith and obedience for the baptized, but also a recognition by the rest of us that they are part of our family. It doesn’t get any better than that!
Before the baptism, we are going to look at Romans 6:1–11 to see the significance of baptism as an ordinance of the church. What happens when we are baptized? Why do we do it? What does it mean? It should be a great reminder.
I am looking forward to Sunday! See you then!
