Sunday, October 24: The Parables
The ballerina Isadora Duncan was once asked backstage what a particular dance meant, and she responded, “If I could explain it with words, I wouldn’t have to dance.”
In some forms of communication, the medium is the message.
In many ways, describing the meaning of a parable is like trying to describe the meaning of a dance—if you could do the idea justice with three points and poem, you wouldn’t have to use a parable!
We’re going to do something different this week. Instead of preaching about a parable, I have rewritten one of Jesus’ parables in a modern context. My hope is that the modern context will help you better understand the classic story told by Jesus.
So, what parable is it and what passage from the Bible? I’m not telling! That is part of the fun. If you’re familiar with Jesus’ parables, see how long it takes you to connect the dots. At the end, I will read the passage from the Bible and spend a few minutes talking about the meaning of the parable and why I did what I did.
See you on Sunday!
Service times are at 9:30 & 11:00. If you can’t make it in person, you can watch live at those times.
